Un Lun Dun by China Miéville
On ABC Girl's recommendation, I dug into this young adult steampunkish offering. Although the concept bears a striking resemblance to Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere", the author's tale of two girls who find themselves in UnLondon (an alternate London filled with flying busses, ghosts and a sacred order of fighting trash cans known as "the binja") is highly original and compellingly page turning.

Recently Vanquished

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
I've been getting into Gaiman's stuff again recently and really liked this clever, young adult book about a book who avoids the fate of his murdered family by toddling into a graveyard, where he is adopted by the resident ghosts. Although the baddie's ultimate motive for murder ultimately turns out to be slightly lame, it's still a terribly good adventure with a lovely ending.

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
The Rock Star and I got stuck in a garage for the best part of an hour the other day, so I was pleased that I had the forethought to pick up a book. Since we were pressed for time, I plucked another Gaiman from the shelf. Reading Anansi Boys made me figure that I need to give American Gods another try, because it was tremendously enjoyable and much funnier than I remember than previous Gaiman novels I've worked my way though.
